Saturday’s data from the Ohio Department of Health showed slightly more Mahoning Valley residents began the vaccination process within the previous 24 hours than in the 24 hours before Friday’s report.

In Trumbull County, 136 people received their first shot, compared to the previous day’s 125, finally bumping the county over 45 percent of the population at least partially vaccinated.

In Mahoning County, 165 people began the vaccination process — 15 more than reported the previous day — meaning 47.38 percent of the county is at least partially vaccinated.

In Columbiana County, 71 people began the process within the past 24 hours, as opposed to just 45 vaccinated in the day prior to Friday’s data. Just more than 38 percent of the county’s population at least has begun the vaccination process.

Those numbers represent confirmed valid vaccines identified by the ODH over 24-hour periods, ending at 6 a.m. daily. Some vaccinations may not be reported within 24 hours of administration, according to ODH.

Reports of new cases in the Valley remained fairly consistent with recent days’ data, while a decrease in new cases was reported in the state as a whole, with 617 new cases in Ohio compared to Friday’s 872.

Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties saw 11, 7, and 8 new cases respectively, bringing the total case numbers to 16,755, 22,670 and 9,190.

The Trumbull County Combined Health District announced a walk-in vaccine clinic for individuals age 12 and up will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mesopotamia Fire Department, 8800 state Route 534. The Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available.
