IT Recycling company, Vyta are delighted to sponsor the IT Team of the Year category at the Belfast Telegraph IT Awards this year.

yta – formally known as AMI is Ireland’s leading secure IT recycling company, delivering secure, sustainable and compliant IT Lifecycle solutions. With sites in Belfast and Dublin they are dedicated to extending the lifecycle of IT assets through refurbishment and resell, while delivering the best possible return to clients. Customers received £6.3m from the resale of its old IT equipment in 2019 and 2020.

Established in 2001, Vyta has grown significantly and now serves a diverse range of customers within the Public and Private sectors. These include IT service providers, technology providers, the financial sector, professional services, legal firms, telecom companies, educational establishments and local government agencies.

Vyta are the most accredited IT Asset Disposal organisation in Ireland, holding 11 international ISO and quality standards, ensuring customers can fulfil environmental regulations as well as data protection obligations under GDPR.

Companies across Europe are obliged under GDPR to ensure that their old IT equipment is cleansed of any data before disposal. In the past two years, Vyta securely sanitised 993,066 devices to meet the best standards in data erasure. Vyta is the only member of ADISA (Asset Disposal Information Security Alliance) certified both in the UK and Ireland, providing the highest form of data security when processing clients’ retired IT.

Vyta’s entire business model is based on sustainability and helping organisations reduce their environmental impact. They have a zero-landfill policy and ensure that 100% of disposals are handled in an environmentally responsible way. The retirement of IT devices not only helps businesses meet their compliance targets but also leads to sustainable processes in the supply-chain. For all the laptops collected and refurbished by Vyta in 2020, there was a total savings of 285 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.

The firm also partners with social enterprises and local charities to supply technology to support disadvantaged students. One in 10 desktops and laptops that come through each year are refurbished and supplied for social enterprise projects. One of these projects is Camara Education, an international educational organisation dedicated to using technology to educate students.
