A murder probe has been found launched after a man was found dead in a home.

Officers found the man in an address in London Road, Westcliff shortly after 1.20pm yesterday after calls to a man in his 40s being injured.

Essex Police says the death is being treated as suspicious and officers have started a murder inquiry.

The force says they need anyone who has seen anyone coming or going from an address between two shops opposite Beedell Avenue.

Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe, who’s leading the investigation, said: “I need anyone who saw anything, or has any CCTV, dash or doorbell footage for the time between Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon to come forward.

“I believe there will have been people coming and going from the address during that time and, as it is on a busy row of shops, I think someone will have seen the people we need to speak to.

“I’m also keen to speak to anyone who has witnessed any unusual activity at the address, including people going in and out, in the last week.”

DCI Metcalfe added: “I know this incident will concern people living in the area and you will see an increased police presence as we put on extra patrols to provide reassurance.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We need anyone who saw anything or has any CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage to contact us.

“If you have any information you can submit a report online at https://www.essex.police.uk or use the ‘Live Chat’ button to speak to an online operator between 7am-11pm.

“Please quote incident 569 of 13 February. You can also call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
