With house prices across Wales having increased by an average of 9.6% over the past year, finding a home at a budget is as difficult as it has ever been.

The average house price in Wales now stands at £178.907, according to the latest Government index.

On Anglesey, prices have increased by a staggering 11.6% between January 2020 and 2021; in Wrexham, this figure stands at 11%,, whereas it is the same or slightly below the national average across the other four counties.

At this rate, house prices will have doubled in some parts of North Wales by 2030.

With a budget of £150,000, finding a new home may prove to be difficult under the current circumstances, though there are options available, ones that vary greatly from county to county.

With that in mind, we have put together a list of what £150,000 can buy across each county in North Wales.

Anglesey

Three bedroom house in Llangefni, Anglesey

This three bedroom terraced house in Llangefni is currently the only property on the market on Anglesey with an asking price of £150,000.

The spacious double-fronted house features double-glazing and electric heating as well as gardens to the front and back.

Whilst habitable in its current state, it is in desperate need of modernisation and upgrading throughout and would likely prove to be something of a project for any prospective buyer.

Gwynedd

There are a number of good properties available in Gwynedd for £150,000 and many of them do not require any major work.

This three bedroom detached house in Bangor is one such property.

Located in the Hirael district of the city, the house is only a short walk away from the High Street.

It has solid oak wood flooring on the ground floor, which comprises a lounge, kitchen/dining room, bedroom and spacious bathroom.

The first floor includes the other two bedrooms and a study landing.

There is an off-road parking space for one car, but there is no garden.

Conwy

This two bedroom house in Glan Conwy is the only house in the county on sale for £150,000

This two bedroom house on Llanrwst Road in Glan Conwy is the only house in the county that’s available for £150,000.

This surprisingly spacious mid-terraced house does not require any significant work, apart from some cosmetic updates.

Its main selling point is its tiered garden, which is an excellent feature at this price.

The rest of the house, which is larger than what it initially seems, is well presented and offers a good standard of accommodation for the price.

Denbighshire

Three bedroom family house on Vale Road, Rhyl

With £150,000 you could afford a well-presented family house in Rhyl.

This particular example on Vale Road includes a stunning garden that is an a very good feature at this price.

It features a patio area that leads into a landscaped section with two trees. The garden to the front of the property, which offers a single parking spot to its side, makes for another pleasant feature.

Comprising of two reception rooms, a kitchen, three double bedrooms and a family bathroom, this spacious property requires very no work at all apart from some updates to the kitchen.

Otherwise it is a lot of house for the price and the most comprehensive package on the list so far.

Flintshire

Three bedroom terraced house in Deeside

Similarly to Denbighshire, there are plenty of options across Flintshire if you are in the market for a £150,000 house.

This three bedroom house in Deeside is the pick of the bunch, having recently been modernised throughout.

All the work on this property has already been done so there is no big project at hand with this mid-terrace house in the Parks.

Featuring a landscaped garden that would be the envy of much pricier properties as well as an excellent range of modern amenities, this Deeside house represents excellent value for money.

It also features a generous driveway big enough for two vehicles.

Wrexham

Two bedroom terraced house on New Road, Southsea

Whilst not boasting as many options as Denbighshire and Flintshire when it comes to £150,000 houses, Wrexham does have a slightly wider range of options than the other counties at this price.

This fully refurbished two bedroom terraced house on New Road in Southsea is a great example, though it represents a slight step down from the previously listed property in Deeside.

Having said that, it is a no-fuss option for anyone looking for a compact two-bedroom at a budget and its reconfigured open plan layout is definitely a selling point.

The refurbishment, which has evidently been done to a high standard, includes new floor coverings throughout, new kitchen and bathroom, new en-suite fitted, new windows and doors (internal and external), replastering and redecoration, and new light fittings.

It also offers driveway parking for one vehicle.
