One of the most expensive properties in Cardiff costs almost the same as a three-bedroom flat in London and a lake-side villa in Italy.

We compared what a £2m home looks like in Cardiff and other popular holiday destinations including London, Greece, and Thailand.

All properties are, of course, luxurious. From a farmhouse surrounded by green fields on the edge of Cardiff to a grand villa with its own outdoor pool in Barcelona, these houses have plenty to offer.

All properties are currently listed on Rightmove.

Six-bedroom farmhouse, Thornhill

This five-bedroom terraced house is on the market for £2m

Listed at the same price as the Holland Park apartment is this five-bedroom terraced house in Fulham.

All bedrooms are double bedrooms, and the house also features a double reception room and two bathrooms. The rooms are set across three floors, with the ground floor leading out onto a garden.

The property has retained some of its period features, and is a short walk from Eel Brook Common. It is one of many properties in London on sale for £2m, and is on the market with Chestertons.

For just under £2m in Italy, you could get this villa with parkland and a swimming pool in Lake Como.

Set in 2.5 acres of land, the villa overlooks Lake Como and has its own guest house. It also has a large garden, space for three cars, and a portico with a wood oven and BBQ.

The property is set over two floors with some open living spaces, large windows, exposed wooden beams and a stone fireplace.

25-bedroom villa, Tuscany



The villa was apparently once one of the largest pig farms in Tuscany

This expansive villa in Tuscany is set in an estate with outbuildings, farm buildings, two lakes and a woodland area.

Gates open onto a private drive that leads to a neo-Gothic style villa that is set over three floors. The property features mosaic floors and fresco ceilings but is “requiring restoration” according to the advert.

The property was one of the largest pig farms in Tuscany, the advert states, and has 19 farm buildings, a mill house, and a private chapel on site, as well as staff quarters upstairs in the villa.
