Bellway has begun construction work on its new Alkerden development at Ebbsfleet Garden City.

The scheme, which received planning permission in February, will deliver 182 new homes on an 11-acre site within the old Eastern Quarry.

Located off Castle Hill Road, Bellway’s development will form part of Alkerden Village, one of three new villages being created as part of the regeneration of the former quarry.

Alkerden will include one and two-bedroom apartments as well as a range of two to four-bedroom houses and two-bedroom coach houses, featuring a mix of detached, semi-detached, and terraced designs.

Bellway will sell 137 of the homes to buyers on the open market. The other 45 properties will be provided as affordable housing for local people.

Alkerden is Bellway’s second development at Alkerden Village and its fifth within the wider Ebbsfleet Garden City regeneration project.

Mark Harrop, Sales Director at Bellway Kent, said: “With building work now underway on the site, we anticipate being able to release the first homes at Alkerden onto the market later this summer.

“The range of houses and apartments will suit buyers from various walks of life, and we have already received a high number of enquiries from potential purchasers interested in moving to the development.

“The wider Ebbsfleet Garden city project has attracted a wave of investment in the area over recent years, making it an increasingly attractive and desirable location in which to live. Residents at Alkerden will benefit from being part of the brand-new neighbourhood at Alkerden Village, where a new market square and education campus are among the community facilities set to open next year.

“Green open space will be an integral part of Alkerden and the wider neighbourhood. Residents will be able to enjoy the pocket park we are creating at the centre of our development as well as the Major Urban Park which is situated immediately to the west of the site.”

Bellway will launch the development to the public with the opening of a sales cabin in September this year, with the showhome set to open on site in spring 2023.
