Work has started on a development set to deliver 680 new homes in the Cambridgeshire village of Littleport.

The homes at Quantum Fields, off Grange Lane, will be delivered as part of a joint venture by Vistry Group and Evera Homes.

Vistry Group, which comprises Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships, and Evera Homes, a private development company created by Cross Keys Homes, Longhurst, Hyde and Flagship Group, plan to build a total of up to 680 new homes on the wider 70-acre site.

This first phase of 360 homes, which has been approved by East Cambridgeshire District Council, will see the developers build 216 homes for private sale and 144 affordable properties for local people available through rent and shared ownership, alongside public open space, on 23.6 acres of the site.

Emma Fletcher, Managing Director of Evera Homes, said “We are delighted to be working alongside Vistry to bring these new homes to Littleport. We are keen to ensure that everyone at Quantum Fields settles quickly into the existing community and that our development helps bring new facilities to the village. We are also pleased to be delivering much needed affordable homes for local people in the area with two Evera members Longhurst and Cross Keys Homes”.

As part of the planning agreement for the wider development, Vistry Group and Evera Homes are to make significant investment in local infrastructure and facilities. The developers are to set land aside and contribute £900,000 for the building of a new community centre, while other contributions include £245,238 to improve bus services and £194,820 to improve the A10/A142/Witchford Road roundabout. Payments will also be made for the maintenance of public open space within the development.
