A FORMER community hall has officially been put up for sale.

Wyndham Hall, on Church Street, Amesbury, has been put on the market by ESTATE agents Myddleton and Major for sale freehold at a guide price of £275,000.

The Diocese of Salisbury confirmed in May this year that the hall was to be sold.

In a statement, the Diocese said that for the last 10 years the hall has needed significant maintenance, management and marketing, and “has struggled to break even”.

An action group then set up a petition calling for the sale to be cancelled, saying: “It has been used by numerous people for popular social activities ranging from dance, a theatre group, family events such as children’s birthday parties, christening parties, social events, fund raising for charity and youth clubs as well as being a very popular community space.”

Myddleton and Major said: “The property has been used for a number of years as a church and community hall and is now surplus to requirements.

“It provides a large hall/meeting space, reception, catering kitchen, committee rooms and offices.

“It has male and female WC accommodation and a small amount of outside space.

“It may be suitable for a range of uses, subject to the necessary planning consent.

Myddelton & Major was named the most active agency in Wiltshire in 2020 for the ninth year running by Estates Gazette, the weekly and online magazine of the UK commercial property.
